What determines the price?
- State of the surface: wallpaper residue, holes or loose old plaster mean preparation work before plastering starts
- Desired finish: wallpaper-ready sits at the bottom of the band, paint-ready smooth work at the top; decorative plaster has its own rate
- Ceilings cost more per m² than walls: working overhead is slower
- Scale: larger surfaces push the per-m² price down — one room costs more per m² than a whole floor
- Empty or furnished: in an empty space the plasterer works faster — and therefore cheaper
- Exterior work: scaffolding, the weather window and the type of render drive the facade price; Randstad rates run 10-20% higher

Frequently asked questions
What does a plasterer cost per m²?
For smooth wall plastering you pay on average € 10 to € 30 per m², including labour and materials. Smooth ceiling plastering costs € 15 to € 35 per m² (overhead work is slower), spray plaster € 5 to € 12 per m² and facade rendering € 45 to € 110 per m². For the walls of one room that comes to € 300 to € 1,500 — the state of the surface and the desired finish decide where you land in the band.
What is the difference between wallpaper-ready and paint-ready?
Wallpaper-ready is flat enough for wallpaper or fibreglass liner and sits at the bottom of the price band. Paint-ready is the tightest finishing class: meant to be painted directly, where raking light betrays every unevenness — that takes more work and thus sits at the top of the band. State which level you want in your request; the plasterer then quotes the right work straight away.
Does the old wallpaper have to come off before the plasterer arrives?
Yes — plaster does not bond reliably to wallpaper or residue. Loose old plaster must also be removed. You can strip the wallpaper yourself to save money, or have it included as preparation work in the quote; mention in your request what is currently on the walls.
How long must plaster dry before I can paint or wallpaper?
The rule of thumb in the trade is roughly one day of drying per millimetre of layer thickness, with normal ventilation. A thin topcoat is dry after a few days; thick levelling work needs weeks. Painting or wallpapering too early traps moisture and causes blistering — ask the plasterer at handover when the wall is ready for the next step.
Can plastering be done in a lived-in home?
Yes. Plasterers cover floors and furniture and work room by room. In an empty space the work does go faster — and is therefore cheaper — than in a furnished one; state the situation in your request so the quote takes it into account.
What does facade rendering cost and when can it be done?
Facade rendering costs € 45 to € 110 per m², depending on condition, finish and scaffolding; per facade you usually land between € 1,250 and € 4,500. With facade insulation added, the per-m² price is considerably higher. Exterior work happens in dry weather from roughly 5 degrees — in practice from March through October. Whoever requests quotes in winter is first in line when the season starts.
Is a request really free and without obligation?
Yes. Submitting a request costs nothing and commits you to nothing. You receive up to 3 quotes and choose yourself — or no one, that's fine too. Prices and payment are arranged directly with the plasterer.
How fast will I get a response?
Plasterers in your region respond as soon as possible with a price indication. In busy renovation months it can take slightly longer — whoever places a request well in advance compares calmly and schedules the work at the preferred moment.
Are the professionals vetted?
Yes. We verify Chamber of Commerce registration and business liability insurance before a company receives requests. Companies with recurring complaints are removed from the platform.
What happens to my data?
Your details are shared only with the (up to 3) plasterers matched to your request. We never resell your data and automatically delete requests after the legal retention period. See our privacy policy.
Do I get a guarantee on plasterwork?
Guarantee arrangements are made directly with the plasterer. Ask how shrinkage cracks (which can be part of a building drying out) are handled versus defects in the work itself, and have the guarantee period and conditions laid down in the quote in writing. Keep the invoice as proof.
What if I'm not satisfied with a plasterer?
Let us know via our contact form. We take complaints seriously: companies with recurring complaints or without valid insurance are removed from the platform.
