What does plastering cost in 2026?
All guide prices in one place: per m², per room and per finish — plus the factors that decide where you land in the band.
Smooth wall plastering in 2026 costs on average € 10 to € 30 per m², including labour and materials. For the walls of one room that means € 300 to € 1,500. Smooth ceiling plastering costs € 15 to € 35 per m² — more per square metre than wall work, simply because working overhead is slower.
Where you land in that band depends mainly on the surface and the finish. Wallpaper residue, holes or loose old plaster mean preparation work before plastering starts; wallpaper-ready work sits at the bottom of the band and paint-ready smooth work at the top. Larger surfaces push the per-m² price down — one room costs more per m² than a whole floor — and Randstad rates run 10-20% higher.
Looking for the budget-friendly neat option? Spray plaster (spack) is the cheapest finish at € 5 to € 12 per m², popular on ceilings and in new builds; expect € 300 to € 3,500 per job. Exterior work is its own category: facade rendering costs € 45 to € 110 per m², and per facade you usually land between € 1,250 and € 4,500.
Always request multiple quotes: for exactly the same job, differences between companies run into double-digit percentages. Set every quote against the price index and check what is included — preparation, corner profiles, primer and covering should all be named before you agree.
